NISER provides a scholarship of Rs 25,000 for the first two years, which will subsequently be enhanced to Rs 28,000 for remaining three years.

Educational qualification:

Ph.D in Biological Sciences: Those interested in applying for this programme must possess 60 percent in a Master's degree in any branches of Biology, Life Sciences or allied fields, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Bioinformatics.

Ph.D in Chemical Sciences: Those interested in applying for this programme must possess 60 percent in a Master's degree in Chemistry or allied fields.

Ph.D in Physical Sciences: Those interested in applying for this programme must possess 60 percent or equivalent GPA cumulatively till the last year/ semester examination and must have appeared in M.Sc majoring in Physics or M.E./M.Tech in Applied Physics.

Ph.D in Mathematical Sciences: Those interested in applying for this programme must possess 60 per cent in a Master's degree in Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science.

The candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of educational qualifications and other additional criteria, which each school may set. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, supplemented by a written test for the final selection.
